Dutch Military Receives New Tactical Vehicles

In 2019, the Dutch Ministry of Defence (MoD) entered into a contract with the Italian manufacturer IVECO Defence Vehicles to supply the various branches of the Dutch military with a new infantry mobility vehicle, the Manticore, a medium tactical vehicle (MTV) (Defense Brief, 2022). The contract between the Dutch MoD and Iveco was signed in the context of the MoD’s effort to force modernisation, more specifically, its Joint Replacement Programme of Wheeled Vehicles (Valpolini, 2021).

250 Abrams Tanks Now Strengthening Polish Armed Forces

“An agreement has just been signed, that guarantees the delivery of 250 Abrams tanks in the most modern version for the Polish Army”, said Mariusz Braszczok, the Polish Minister of National Defence, on 5 April 2022. The current agreement has been defined as one of the most extensive military commitments in the history of the Polish armed forces.

Belgium to Provide NATO Reinforcements and First Multinational Ammo Warehouse Opens up in Estonia

Recently, NATO has decided to reinforce its eastern flank. In addition to the four battlegroups already stationed in Poland and the Baltic States, four new battlegroups are now being added. The four new NATO battlegroups will be stationed in Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia and Hungary. With these additional reinforcements, roughly 25,000 NATO soldiers will be present in Eastern Europe. The countries themselves provide about 290,000 soldiers. On land, the reinforcements serve mainly as deterrence for Russia, to show the Russians that invading any of these countries will have massive consequences.
